No Waiting Period Dental Plans

You already know the importance of taking care of your teeth, including regular checkups, cleanings and preventive services. But what about the problems that you can’t see? Issues like cavities below the gumline, infections at the root, and impacted teeth. Oral health problems can arise at any time and waiting for treatment may not be an option.

Looking at dental insurance plans? Don’t wait to protect your smile!

Get dental care as soon as the first day of next month with our budget-friendly, "no-wait plans". We offer two no-wait dental plans to choose from – Delta Dental - Clear Plan and our brand-new Delta Dental - Ascent Plan.

Both plans are structured differently. In this article, we'll cover some of the differences between our Delta Dental - Ascent Plan and Delta Dental - Clear Plan, as well as the coverage capabilities they offer in the short term for a new member, for basic and major services.

What is a dental insurance waiting period?

A waiting period is the time before all of your dental benefits are payable by Delta Dental of Washington. Some dental procedures are covered under your plan, but only payable for treatment you receive after the waiting period has elapsed. Many dental insurance plans have a waiting period ranging from a month to a full year. With the Delta Dental - Ascent Plan and Delta Dental - Clear Plan there are no waiting periods for any covered procedures.

Keep in mind that our plans waive waiting periods if you can show you did not have a lapse in coverage - such as coming off employer provided dental insurance (or other prior coverage) and purchasing an Individual & Family Plan.

Full Coverage Dental Insurance

Dental insurance coverage may vary by plan and between different dental insurance companies. There are a number of factors you will likely want to consider in a dental insurance plan such as coverage for all basic services like cleanings and checkups, as well as coverage for major dental work.

A dental preferred provider organization (PPO) is a network of contracted dentists who have agreed to provide services to our members and accept an agreed fee for those services. Use our Find A Dentist tool to search for a dentist that fits your needs or see if your current dentist is in-network.

  • The Delta Dental Ascent Plan is a Delta Dental PPO plus Premier Plan. A member on this plan can choose to see any dentist but may have higher out of pocket costs when going out of network.

  • The Delta Dental Clear Plan is a Delta Dental PPO plus Premier only plan. In order for services to be a covered benefit under this Plan, the member is required to see a Delta Dental PPO plus Premier Provider.

Focusing your search on dental insurance with no waiting period means you'll have quick access to coverage on major dental care as well as basic dental services.
