Dentists: Exercise Your Rights & Influence by Voting in WDS/DDWA Election

October 30, 2025

Here’s one thing I’ve learned after three years as a Member Director on the Washington Dental Service (“WDS”)/Delta Dental of Washington (“DDWA”) Board of Directors:

Dentists’ voices matter to WDS/DDWA.

This not-for-profit organization exists to remove barriers to oral health care and improve overall health for all in Washington. It cannot fulfill its mission without dentists.

That is why WDS/DDWA invites providers to share insights via the Member Advisory Panel, surveys, through our Provider Ambassador team and in emails to AskMark. And it’s why provider representation on the Board of Directors is so important. Four of the 10 people currently serving on the Board are dentists.

One of those Member Directors – me – is up for re-election this year.

Voting is happening online now and concludes at the Annual Member Meeting, which is set for Nov. 14, and all Member Dentists are asked to participate.

In fact, the sole purpose of this year’s meeting is to hold this election and ensure Member Dentists are part of WDS/DDWA leadership. I urge every DDWA Member Dentist to stay engaged and to vote.

My dentist colleagues and I serve on this Board because of agreements that have been made to give Member Dentists a greater say in how WDS/DDWA operates. We serve to improve patient outcomes and push for greater responsiveness to providers’ concerns. We serve to improve the processes that affect dental practices day to day.

If dentists choose not to participate and vote, the only result will be less effective representation and less influence over policies that matter to all of us.

Our challenges aren’t getting any easier. The best way forward is to be involved and to make things better together.

Use your voice: Vote!

Don’t let a handful of voices silence your own in this election. Representation on the WDS/DDWA board is crucial for dentists.

I’ve devoted more than three decades to advocating for my peers and for the future of the profession. I believe dentists and dental-benefit companies need to work together, and that we need leaders who understand what practicing dentists are up against and who advocate for them. I’d be honored to continue doing that with your support. You can submit your vote at www.cesvote.com using the personal control number in your email from Corporate Election Services. If you don’t see it, reach out to Provider@DeltaDentalWA.com.
