This is personal. Vote in this year’s WDS/DDWA Board Election.

October 14, 2025

As a practicing dentist and decades-long advocate for our profession, it’s important to me to continue to make a positive difference for dentists. I am seeking re-election as a Member Director on the Washington Dental Service (“WDS”)/Delta Dental of Washington (“DDWA”) Board of Directors because I believe I can use the Board seat to continue to drive positive change for both patients and dentists.

And yet some of my colleagues at the Washington State Dental Association – a group I served as president for two terms and that recently honored me with my second President’s award for outstanding contributions to dentistry – are encouraging Member Dentists not to vote in this election. They are saying their call to boycott my reelection is about policy not about me as a candidate. But it IS about me. This election boycott will have zero impact on the WSDA’s policy concerns but will limit my ability to bring a dentist’s voice to the Board.

I have chosen to devote time outside of my practice in service to our industry because representation is important. My decades of experience and advocacy add a strong clinical perspective to the boardroom and position me to help to advance positive change for our communities. This Board would be weaker without contributions like mine and fellow Member Dentists. I urge every DDWA Member Dentist to stay engaged and to vote.

Our accomplishments in recent years are noteworthy, among them:

  • Provider reimbursement continues to evolve and improve, shaped by input from both WDS’ Member Directors and its Member Advisory Panel. Since 2020, DDWA fees for dentists on the provider reimbursement model have risen by an average of 17% with additional increases coming in 2026.
  • We have expanded training opportunities for dental hygienists, assistants, and dentists. This includes sponsorship of new and expanded programs at Lake Washington Tech, Shoreline, and Peninsula Colleges, as well as ongoing support of the University of Washington Dental School. We also helped launch the new School of Dental Medicine at PNWU in Yakima. Additionally, we reach more than 2,000 youth each year to recruit the next generation of dental professionals through our Dental Careers Discovery Program.

Use your voice: Vote!

Don’t let a handful of voices silence your own in this election. Representation on the WDS/DDWA board is crucial for dentists.

Dentists and dental-benefit companies need to work together. We need leaders who understand what practicing dentists are up against and who advocate for them. I’ve devoted more than three decades to advocating for my peers and for the future of the profession. It’s important to me to continue working with other dentists and partners in our state to strengthen practices, benefit patients, and improve the oral health of all Washingtonians. It’s personal. I’d be honored to have your support. You can submit your vote at https://www.cesvote.com.
