Washingtonians are Counting on us to Work Together for Them

October 6, 2025

As a dentist who’s been caring for patients in the Tri-Cities for more than 30 years, I’ve experienced firsthand the many difficulties facing our profession. Staffing shortages, escalating costs, cybersecurity threats and more are increasingly pressuring practices.

One fact that has become abundantly clear is this: We need dentists and Delta Dental of Washington to work together to address these challenges.

We have demonstrated that through collaboration we can:

  • Continue to improve reimbursement for care providers
  • Continue to address the dental workforce shortage
  • Expand education and training opportunities for dentists, dental hygienists, and assistants
  • Advocate for oral health
  • Make the most of technology – including AI – to boost efficiency and make things easier and more predictable for patients and providers

Lucky to lead

It’s been my honor to serve in several leadership roles within the profession.

As president of the Washington State Dental Association, I helped dentists in our state navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. I was able to assist in shaping the Pacific Northwest Dental Conference, bringing education and innovation to the region’s providers. As a Member Dentist on Delta Dental of Washington’s Board for the past three years, I’ve had a hand in advancing dental reimbursement conversations, investing in workforce solutions and supporting ongoing efforts to improve oral health for people across Washington.

Success in every one of those roles depended on strong collaboration. It called for working with all kinds of partners, including dental benefits companies, dental schools, tech companies, governments, and nonprofits.

Need your support

I’m running for re-election to the Delta Dental of Washington (DDWA) Board. It’s a vantage point that offers great opportunity to champion dentists and patients and to drive positive change. I encourage every DDWA Member Dentist to stay engaged and to vote. Voting ensures providers’ perspective is included in key decisions that affect us all.

We have more to do than ever before. To keep our practices successful and make oral health care accessible to more of our neighbors, all of us in dentistry need to collaborate. Dentists and their teams face no shortage of challenges. And yet I’m confident that by working together we will be successful in resolving these issues for the benefit of our patients and for improving the oral health of all Washingtonians.

I’d be honored to have your support. You can submit your vote at https://www.cesonlineservices.com/wds25_vm.
