Delta Dental of Washington was proud to support member dentist Dr. Lina Kim, DDS and Floss Boss Mobile Dentistry during National Trans Awareness week in November.
UTOPIA Washington is a queer, trans, nonbinary people of color-led grassroots organization born out of the challenges, brilliance, strength of heart, and resilience of the queer and trans Pasifika Islander (QTPI or “cutie pie”) community, located in Kent.
During this week of both virtual and in-person gatherings UTOPIA worked with community partners to provide programs and gender-affirming services to members of the Trans community, including dental care. Nationally, 19% of individuals who identify as transgender say that they have experienced refusal of healthcare and 50% have felt a lack of provider knowledge regarding caring for them*.
Dr. Lina Kim, a Delta Dental of Washington member dentist, started Floss Boss Mobile Dentistry to bridge the gap between oral hygiene and accessibility. The Floss Boss provides care from hygiene services, general care, and X-Rays to cosmetic services.
