A new partnership between the Northwest African American Museum, Seattle Sounders FC and Delta Dental helps promote cultural literacy and much more.
As part of our commitment to improving oral health equity and creating a more just society, Delta Dental has partnered with the Northwest African American Museum’s Knowledge is Power Book Giveaway Program which promotes cultural literacy through books which center, reflect, and affirm BIPOC characters.
The innovative program includes the popular Books, Balls & Brushes initiative -- a collaboration between Northwest African American Museum, Seattle Sounders FC, and Delta Dental -- which distributes children’s books (with Black characters, authors and/or illustrators), soccer balls and toothbrushes -- to inspire children in primarily BIPOC communities.
In addition to the free giveaway of toothbrushes, Delta Dental distributes copies of its original storybook, The Clean Teeth Club: A Tooth Fairy Tale -- which prominently features a Black female dentist and other BIPOC characters, as well as a storyline which promotes good brushing and flossing habits, leaving readers eagerly anticipating their next visit to the dentist.
