When Washington’s biggest rivalry takes center stage, everyone has a team to cheer for. This year, Delta Dental of Washington is cheering for something we can all get behind: healthy communities.
Leading up to the 2026 Apple Cup, Delta Dental of Washington donated more than $1,500 and 2,026 toothbrushes to the University of Washington Food Pantry and Washington State University’s Cougar Food Pantry. The donations will help support students experiencing food insecurity and provide access to essential oral health supplies.
Because staying healthy means more than having enough food on the table. Access to basic hygiene products, including toothbrushes and toothpaste, is an important part of overall health and well-being.
UW’s Any Hungry Husky program, provides free food and groceries to students, staff and faculty experiencing food insecurity. The pantry offers a variety of resources, including shelf-stable groceries, fresh produce, ready-to-eat food and hygiene products. These services help members of the UW community meet their basic needs while they pursue their education and careers.
The Cougar Food Pantry provides free food and basic needs resources to students experiencing food insecurity. The pantry offers nutritious food, snacks and other essential items, helping students focus on their education without having to worry about where their next meal will come from.
Food insecurity affects communities across Washington, including college campuses. Supporting food pantries is one way we can help make sure students have access to the resources they need to thrive.
But we can’t stop now. Whether you bleed purple or crimson, you can join the fight against food insecurity by making a donation to the UW Food Pantry. Every contribution can help provide essential resources to students in need.
No matter who you’re rooting for, we’re all cheering for healthy smiles and healthy communities.
