Tooth Fairies and Kraken's Buoy with kids at Skate Day 2024

Tooth Fairy Experience Hosts Free Skate Day with Kraken

April 17, 2024

The Tooth Fairy Experience Program hosted its third annual Free Skate Day on April 13, 2024,, with the Seattle Kraken to celebrate the importance of oral health in children. Free Skate Day celebrates kids who have experienced a Tooth Fairy school visit and completed a brushing and flossing challenge!

Throughout early 2024, the Tooth Fairy Experience Program visited four of the Seattle Kraken’s partner elementary schools to host fun and informative presentations about oral health, good nutrition, and healthy active lifestyles. During these presentations, nearly 900 students learned about the importance of a proper and consistent oral health routine, why taking care of their young teeth was so important to the growth of their adult teeth, and how to make healthy food and beverage choices. At the end of the presentations, the students were tasked with a week-long brushing and flossing challenge.

The prize? A free skate day at the Kraken Community IcePlex with the Tooth Fairies and Kraken mascot, Buoy! After a week of building healthy habits through the brushing and flossing challenge, students submitted their charts to their teachers. All students were invited to participate in a Free Skate Day.

On the big day, Tooth Fairy Arika and Tooth Fairy Viviana joined more than 100 kindergarten through second graders and their families who attended the event. Every kid received a free dental health kit and a Kraken t-shirt provided by the Tooth Fairy Experience Program. Tooth Fairies were on hand to play at activity tables, which included a flossing station where attendees could “floss” PlayDoh out of Lego pieces, a coloring station, and a photo station for photos with the Tooth Fairies!

Kraken mascot Buoy laced up some skates and took to the ice with the kids and their families and participated in the Shot on Goal activity on one-third of the ice. Healthy snacks were provided and to support the climate, attendees were encouraged to bring their own water bottles to refill at the Delta Dental of Washington hydration stations at the Community IcePlex.

Since its launch in 2019, as part of Delta Dental’s vision for a cavity-free Washington, the Tooth Fairy Experience Program aims to improve dental health habits at an early age, reduce the incidence of tooth decay and increase the number of kids who regularly visit the dentist.

The Tooth Fairy Experience was developed by Delta Dental of Washington in partnership with Arcora Foundation, School Nurse Organization of Washington, and Washington State Dental Association – and is endorsed by the Washington Homeschool Organization. All materials have been dentist, teacher, school nurse and child reviewed.
