Frequently Asked Questions
Important information about your dental plan:
Microsoft's dental plan is transitioning to Delta Dental effective 1/1/2026. Delta Dental is the nation’s largest and most experienced dental benefits carrier. They cover more Americans than any other dental benefits provider. As of January 1st, Delta Dental of Washington will handle all customer service and claims processing for Microsoft's dental.
How will my dental plan work with Delta Dental?
▼Microsoft’s Dental Plus Plan is unchanged. Your plan continues to allow you to choose any dentist at the time of treatment. However, there are advantages to selecting a dentist who is part of the Delta Dental network. Eight out of every ten dentists participate in Delta Dental’s national network, so it's likely that your dentist is “In-Network” with Delta Dental.
What are the advantages of seeing a Delta Dental network dentist?
▼Delta Dental network dentists have agreed to a lower fee schedule, so your financial responsibility towards your treatment cost will be lower and you will be able to stretch your annual maximum benefit further. Additionally, network dentists agree to complete and submit claim forms directly to Delta Dental.
How do I find out if MY dentist is part of Delta Dental network?
▼You can find out if your dentist is part of the Delta Dental network by visiting DeltaDentalWA.com and using their Find a Dentist tool. Under “Choose Your Network”, select the Delta Dental PPO Plus Premier® network. Enter your dentist’s last name and the city/town where they are located.
How do I find a Delta Dental network dentist in my area?
▼You can find a Delta Dental network dentist in your area by visiting DeltaDentalWA.com and using their Find a Dentist tool. Under “Choose Your Network”, scroll down our list of networks and select the Delta Dental PPO Plus Premier® network. You can search by location, spoken languages, and provider’s specialty.
How does Delta Dental make payment on my orthodontia claim?
▼To receive your orthodontia benefit, you may select any licensed orthodontist – your orthodontist is not required to be part of the Delta Dental network. Delta Dental will provide an initial payment of 50% of the plan's responsibility, with the remaining 50% issued in monthly payments over the course of treatment. For example, if you or a family member have the full $2500 orthodontia benefit remaining, Delta Dental will issue an initial payment of $1250. The remaining $1250 will be issued in monthly payments over the remainder of the length of treatment, provided eligibility under the Microsoft dental plan is maintained.
Can I use my FSA or HSA account with my dental plan?
▼You can use your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for out-of-pocket dental expenses, including deductible, coinsurance, orthodontia and costs not fully covered under your dental plan. Delta Dental will send your claim information directly to Microsoft’s FSA vendor partner Fidelity, making it easy for you to get reimbursed.
What if my dentist is not part of the Delta Dental network?
▼You are not limited to visiting a Delta Dental network dentist. If you choose a non-network dentist, you may be responsible for having the dentist complete and sign claim forms. It will also be up to you to ensure your claims are sent to Delta Dental of Washington. Claim payments will be based on actual charges or the maximum allowable fees for non-network dentists, whichever is less. Any difference between the dentist’s actual charges and the plan’s maximum allowable fees for non-network dentists is your responsibility and can be billed to you. This is in addition to any coinsurance responsibility.
Will I receive a new ID card from Delta Dental?
▼Yes, you will be receiving new dental ID cards from Delta Dental. Each enrolled employee will receive two cards. Your cards should arrive at your home before the first week of January. On or after December 15th, you may also visit www.DeltaDentalWA.com/idcard/validation to get a digital copy of your card. Delta Dental ID cards are issued with the employee’s name and ID number. Covered dependents do not receive separate cards. Once you receive your ID card, share it with your dentist so they can submit your claims to Delta Dental of Washington. Microsoft’s group number with Delta Dental is #06250.
What happens if me or someone in my family is currently in the middle of treatment?
▼If the treatment is completed on or after January 1st, the claim should be submitted to Delta Dental, not Premera. In case you need to connect with Premera about historical claims information, please email microsoft@premera.com or call (800) 676-1411.
Will orthodontia maximums from Premera be transferred?
▼Yes, any orthodontia maximum and orthodontia deductible accumulated under Premera will be transferred to Delta Dental. Any orthodontia payment made by Delta Dental will be based on your remaining orthodontia lifetime maximum. Please have your orthodontist submit your or your child’s orthodontia treatment plan to Delta Dental. Microsoft's plan covers orthodontia at 50% to a $2,500 lifetime maximum.
How do I access my coverage details?
▼After January 1st, you will have access to Delta Dental’s member portal, MySmile®, which allows you to view your benefits, eligibility and claims information. The first time you access MySmile via Microsoft’s benefits hub, you will be prompted through a one-time registration process (simply provide your address, first and last name, and birthdate). After that, you'll connect seamlessly through your benefits hub.
How do I pay my dentist?
▼If you choose a Delta Dental network dentist, he or she will complete the claim form and submit it to Delta Dental for you. The claim payment will be sent directly to your dentist. You are only responsible for paying your dentist your deductible, coinsurance and/or amounts over the annual maximum. If you see a dentist not part of our network, you will be responsible for having the dentist complete and sign claim forms. It is also your responsibility to ensure that the claims are sent to Delta Dental of Washington. If you prefer Delta Dental of Washington to reimburse your claim directly to your out-of-network dentist, please ensure that your claim notes your assignment of benefits goes to your dentist.
