Work, kids, responsibilities…your daily routine alone is enough to put you over the edge. But what happens when life goes beyond simple stress? Here are some red flags to watch out for:

Worried Sick

It’s more than an expression. Stress puts your body into “fight or flight” mode, meaning it literally goes into emergency or survival mode. Experiencing this over a prolonged period of time overloads your nervous system. As a result, your immune system has a harder time fighting off bacteria and viruses. Extended stress can make you sick.

Try a calming bedtime routine to help your central nervous system relax all night long.

Funky Tummy

Stress is connected to acid reflux, digestion issues, and a sensitive tummy. Try drinking a lavender tea instead of coffee during office hours. Coffee is more likely to irritate the stomach and tea can calm tummy aches.

Hectic Hormones

We all experience fluctuation in moods and emotions under stress. Higher levels of testosterone in men and estrogen in women are enough to make us all go crazy. Often times this can create issues between personal relationships and communication.

Face stress head-on before you lose your head. Stay active, stick to a routine and make sure you’re getting at least 8 hours of sleep.
