November 5, 2015
It’s basketball season and we can’t wait to see our collegiate champions, Gonzaga, play. If you’re like our elite eight, follow these tips to protect your smile on and off the court:

Wear a mouthguard on the court. A 2014 study published in the New York Times revealed players who didn’t wear mouth protection were 6 times more likely to sustain a serious injury. Basketball may not be a direct contact sport, but men’s basketball has the highest rate of injury according to the American Dental Association. These injuries include broken teeth and jaw, as well as serious injury to lips, tongue and neck. Wearing a mouthguard is an easy way to prevent serious injuries to your smile on the court. Brush, floss and visit your dentist regularly for a healthy smile off the court. Follow these tips and you’ll always have a championship smile.
