Tooth-Healthy Treats for Happy Trails

The time is now, Washington! Enjoy the summer sunshine and take advantage of our endless activities and hiking trails.

To protect your smile, try these tooth-friendly trail snacks for a nutritious power-punch, packed with protein.

•   Cinnamon Peanut butter apple bites.

In the mood for a trail treat? Cut up fresh Washington Apples and mix ¾ cup peanut butter, ½ cup honey, and 1-teaspoon cinnamon.

•   String cheese.

Cheese is packed with calcium, which is grate for your teeth. Toss a few in your bag for easy snacking. Just don’t trash the trails – throw away your wrappers at the trailhead!

•   Trail mix.

Foods with a small amount of sugar are the best option for your teeth. Mix together nuts, seeds and dried fruit for a healthy treat.

•   Veg out!

Pack a container filled with your favorite veggies like green and red peppers, carrots or broccoli. Not only will raw veggies keep your teeth healthy, they’ll give you extra energy to hike that last mile, mile and a half.
