Dentists who perform any electronic transactions are required to have an NPI number, according to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). Effective November 18th dentists must have an NPI number on file with Washington Dental Service to perform any transactions on our Web site.

To avoid any interruption of the electronic services you currently use, please complete an NPI Profile and fax it to our Provider Services department at (800) 460-3159 at your earliest opportunity. If you have already provided us with your NPI number, you don’t need to do anything to continue taking advantage of the electronic services WDS provides to you.
